The Downers Grove Park District is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to supervise the Youth and Teen Programs. This full-time position is responsible for supervising part-time personnel, budgeting, and program planning for The Link, a recreation-based before and after school program, camps, and various youth and teen programs which support the community’s needs and interests.
This salaried, exempt position has an annual pay range of $45,000 to $48,000 depending on experience. Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with some weekend and evening hours. This position reports to the Recreation Manager.
Essential Functions • Develops and implements programs and services supporting Youth and Teens, Camps, and The Link program. • Prepare various reports including budgets and quarterly program evaluation reports. • Recruit, hire, train and manage staff. • Enforces all District safety policies including a safe work environment. • Communicates effectively with other team members and completes tasks assigned by the Recreation Manager • Assist with implementation of the District’s special events. • Communicate professionally with participant’s parents and/or guardians.
Requirements • Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation or a related field and three-year experience in the public sector recreation field. • CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within three months of employment (free CPR/First Aid training is provided by the Park District) • Previous experience in before and after school programming is preferred. • Effective interpersonal skills • Must be creative, organized, and have the ability to multi-task. • Good leadership skills
