Temporary Education Program Assistant (March 1 to May 1, 2019)​

Department: Visitor Services Reports to: Education and Volunteer Coordinator Location: Wheaton, IL


We are looking for an Education Program Assistant at Cantigny Park to support children’s activities. This is a fun opportunity to help with activities like inchworms (ages 18 -36 months) and sprouts (ages 3-5 years) – drop-in programs attended with an adult that involve nature-themed stories, songs, crafts, and hands-on discovery. This is a temporary position from March 1 to May 1, 2019 that reports to the Education and Volunteer Coordinator. Ideal candidates are energetic, love working with children in a variety of settings, and supporting educational programs and special events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Cantigny Park.

Responsibilities Assist with implementing curriculum for programs and activities Assist with program preparation, set-up, and clean-up Assist with children’s craft projects and activities at special events Support the Visitor Services Department’s activities when required Provide for the safety of all children visiting the park during educational programming, special events, or during regular visits with their families

Qualifications At least two years of experience working with children, and strong interest in working with children of all ages in both indoor and outdoor settings Must find satisfaction in working with the public and possess an outgoing, friendly, courteous, and enthusiastic personality Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to manage complex projects, competing priorities, and deadlines independently Demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s values with commitment to deliver results measured against the Foundation’s mission Must be able to walk, sit and stand to conduct programs and activities. Must be able to withstand heat and humidity during the summer, cold during the winter when conducting outdoor programs. Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite Must attend Cantigny Park’s Child Safety Training and become a mandated reporter Valid IL Driver's License First Aid, C.P.R. and Automated External Defibrillator certification preferred All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening
