A Recreation Intern must be motivated with strong multi-tasking skills, great attention to detail and strong interpersonal communication skills. Under the supervision and guidance of the Internship/Sports Supervisor and experienced Park District staff Recreation interns will have the opportunity to expand their education. The intern will gain experience in administration, marketing, budgeting, leadership, staff management, programming, facility management, special events and maintenance/parks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned: - Attend Board meetings, supervisor/manager meetings and staff meetings - Develop and implement goals and objectives - Prepare and submit reports as required by university program requirements - Work with departments as assigned. This includes but not limited to Administration, Recreation, Parks & Planning, Finance and Marketing. - Assist in planning, coordinating and supervision of various programming areas.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents. Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that is pertinent to the activities conducted by the department. Monitor the learn/play environment for safety hazards. Promptly report to the Risk Manager or member of the Safety Committee all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed.

EDUCATION Must be a student in good academic standing currently enrolled in or have recently completed a college undergraduate or graduate degree in the Recreation field at an accredited University.
HOURS The intern is expected to work 40 hours per week for an 8-12 week program. The standard hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, however weekend and evening hours may be needed for specific programs and events.
