Major responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned. *Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance at all park district facilities including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical repairs. *Maintains appropriate inventories of maintenance supplies. *Performs snow and ice removal functions at park district facilities. *Supervises and delegates tasks to seasonal staff. *Opens and/or closes facilities as schedule requires. *Drives park district vehicles to perform errands. *Administers contracts and warranties for maintenance products and external services. *Performs duties of a Park Specialist as required.
Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a 2 year technical college education or equivalent through progressive work experience.
Minimum of 3 years related work experience including experience in general building and grounds maintenance and repair. Must have strong electrical background.
Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally. Anything lifted over 50 pounds must be achieved with assistance (mechanical or team-lift).
Must have valid Illinois drivers license with excellent driving record.
Will require working outdoors in all weather conditions, especially during the summer. Will work in mechanical areas of the Community Center and Aquatic Park facilities including exposure to HVAC and electrical units, pipes, pumps, motors and filtration equipment.
