The Roselle Park District operates and manages over 158 acres of land in 16 parks, and offers approximately 276 recreational and seasonal programs. We provide a full range of activities and services year-round. Major recreation programs include athletics, music, cultural arts, dance, day camps, fitness, preschool, outdoor recreation, trips, and special events.

The Roselle Park District is looking for a summer Recreation Intern to join our team. The Recreation Intern reports to the Superintendent of Recreation and is responsible for working with the Recreation Department to assist with all types of projects, events, and programs. The internship provides a comprehensive experience of the District’s operations including programming and facility management in the areas of camps, aquatics, athletics, cultural arts, early childhood, fitness, special events, and more. Demonstrates commitment to the District’s Mission.

This will be a 12-week internship, Approx 40 hours per week. The pay will be $10 per hour.

Qualifications: • Currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Leisure Services, or a related field • Available to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) • Valid Illinois Driver’s License • Current CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain certification within the first three months of employment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Support District policies and procedures • Provide quality customer service; fielding questions, comments and concerns • Visit, observe and participate in various aspects of the agency’s facilities, programs, services, and operations • Assist with the planning and implementation/supervision of recreation programming, special events and facility operations • Observe and evaluate recreation programming, special events and facility operations • Coordinate and purchase supplies • Communicate any issues to the Superintendent of Recreation in a timely manner • Maintain a safe environment for patrons and staff • Perform general administrative tasks including but not limited to: answering/making calls, assisting customers, copying, and filing. • Operate District vehicles • Attend and participate in Department team meetings • Attend necessary training sessions as identified by the Recreation Supervisor • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
