The Parks Maintenance is responsible for performing maintenance tasks of park grounds and facilities throughout the district, including but not limited to: installation, maintenance and repair of landscaping, playgrounds, athletic fields, hard surface courts, park amenities, fencing, signage, drainage, concrete, asphalt and paths. Other duties and responsibilities include: building/shelter repairs and cleaning, snow removal and ice rink maintenance. Qualifications: Applicants must be of sound physical condition to perform heavy manual labor in all types of weather conditions. Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent. Must have a valid Driver’s License and be at least 18 years of age. Prior experience and knowledge of semi-skilled carpentry, painting, dry-wall, plumbing, electrical, welding, concrete and other related maintenance skills is preferred. Must have experience and ability in operating a variety of vehicles and equipment including: trailers, tractors, riding mowers, utility vehicles, backhoe, skid steer, wood chipper, air compressor, trencher, chainsaws, landscape equipment, power tools etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and public. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to obtain an Illinois Pesticide Operators License, Chain Saw Safety Certification and Playground Safety Inspector Certification within the first 6 months of employment.
Hours: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position. Hours are M – F, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Weekend and evening work as required. Rate of Pay: $17.00//hr. - $20.00/hr. depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefit package.
