Accounting Assistant will be responsible for recording monies received along with performing finance, payroll, and accounting tasks and projects. Payroll support takes priority for this position during payroll week. This position will assist the Superintendent of Finance with the annual audit and additional special assignments as directed. This position reports to the Superintendent of Finance.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Knowledge and Proficiency in Office 365. Knowledge and experience in government accounting software, Incode experience is preferred. Experience with RecTrac is preferred. Valid State of Illinois Class “D” driver’s license. Successful criminal background check prior to employment. Attain (within six (6) months of employment) and maintain valid Adult & Child CPR/AED certification. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

Associates Degree in Business Management or Accounting preferred. Accounting courses are helpful. A minimum of two years of experience with accounts receivable, invoicing, and payroll processing in Parks & Recreation, municipal government, or related industry. HOURS

Forty (40) hours per week, with work hours agreed upon with the Superintendent of Finance. Some overtime may be required including evenings and weekend hours. Employee is considered to be on duty whenever the need exists. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The hiring salary range is $41,097.00-$44,692.99; starting salary is DOQ. The District offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and membership in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). The Park District benefits package also includes paid vacation, personal days, holidays, sick leave, and potential for annual merit increases.
