The full-time Museum Manager will oversee the daily operations of the museums at Lisle Station Park. Major responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Develops comprehensive short and long-term museum programs to serve all age populations including events, exhibits and artifact displays. Works with the Heritage Society cataloging existing and future museum artifacts. Conducts guided tours and facility rentals as needed. Organizes and facilitates historical special events in cooperation with the Heritage Society. Prepares annual budget estimates, monitors revenue and administers expenditures for programs and services. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates part-time instructors, support staff and volunteers. Promotes museum programs and events to external groups including Chambers of Commerce, village departments, civic and cultural groups and visitors’ bureaus. Prepares summaries, monthly reports, periodic and special reports. Provides timely and adequate information for publicity of museum programs and events. Performs job safely and in compliance with the park district’s policies and procedures, work rules and safety rules. Qualifications: Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, History or a relevant area. Knowledge of Past Perfect software, grant writing and / or fundraising experience preferred. Minimum of 2 years related work experience required.
Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. Will have to walk to various historical facilities in the same general vicinity on a regular basis.
