Job Title: Assistant Operations Supervisor
Department: Recreation Reports to: Recreation Operations Manager

Job Summary/Purpose: The Village of Bensenville seeks an individual to perform daily facility preventative maintenance and technical work in the Recreation Department. The Recreation Department consists of the Edge Ice Arena, The Water’s Edge Aquatic Center, Redmond Park and the Bensenville Theatre. The majority of day-to-day tasks will concentrate on general maintenance of Edge Ice Arenas but will include other village facilities within the Recreation Department. The Assistant Operations Supervisor will contribute to the overall appearance and quality of our facilities. The position works under the supervision of the Recreation Operations Manager and the Recreation Director.

Duties/Responsibilities: Daily facility maintenance, including but not limited to ice arenas maintenance Daily ice maintenance, including ice-resurfacer operation and maintenance Coordinates facilities’ operation activities with recreation personnel and/or contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events Manages the repairs, replacement and maintenance of equipment Performs general carpentry, heating, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and painting tasks Performs snow removal Maintains operational reports Schedules and conducts inspections of facilities Implements and updates facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures Recommends building and equipment improvements Coordinates and oversees special projects, such as construction, remodeling or expansion Performs related tasks as required Required Skills/Abilities: Knowledge administering multipurpose arena facilities, including concessions, and basic facility and equipment maintenance. Skill in operating tools and equipment, such as an ice resurfacer Ability to perform job responsibilities in an accurate and efficient manner Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including measuring, calculating and estimating Ability to problem-solve, coordinate event-planning, work independently, and be self-directed in completing job duties in stressful situations Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks that include lifting items that weigh up to 50 lbs Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, arena users, and the public; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Education and Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience and comprehensive knowledge of facility maintenance practices and procedures – preferably ice arena operations and maintenance. Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the following basic life operational functions; climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, hearing and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform the following tasks; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Must possess the visual acuity to operate machines and equipment including close inspection of moving and small parts, using measurement devices, perform assembly and fabrication of parts, prepare maintenance records and operate a computer terminal.

Schedule & Availability: Five (5) days a week, 40 hours per week with evenings and weekends required. Willing to work a non-traditional schedule such as Thursday to Monday. Benefits & Compensation: The Village of Bensenville offers a generous benefits package including Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, and a Pension/Benefit Plan (IMRF). Compensation for the position is set at $43,000 - $48,000 - depending on qualifications
