Job Purpose:

The Landscape Specialist serves as a primary resource for the planting and maintenance of displays in the Conservatory showrooms and landscapes in all parks and/or facilities and reports to the Horticulture Supervisor. This work includes: planting and maintenance of annual and perennial beds, shrubs and trees, and seasonal cleanup operations. This position is part-time, year-round.

Essential Functions:

In order to effectively perform the functions of this position, the Landscape Specialist shall assume the following responsibilities and associated duties:

Facility Management/Programming

Implements planting designs and maintenance practices for landscapes in all parks and/or facilities including tiling, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and pest management

Assists Horticulture Supervisor with maintenance and upkeep of Conservatory showrooms, production greenhouses, and operations areas (i.e., watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, sweeping, etc.) including all exterior landscapes and landscape features (i.e., ponds, irrigation systems, planters, etc.)

Assists Parks & Planning Department with snow removal at the Conservatory and other Park District parks and/or facilities as needed

Ensure that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and park district standards.
