ABOUT US: The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, programs, events, parks and open spaces.
 
JOB SUMMARY:  Our Fleet Services Department consists of our Fleet Supervisor and two full-time Mechanics. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of trucks, cars, buses, trailers, tractors, mowers, small equipment, and diesel engines. Additional responsibilities include ordering and managing parts inventory, and other duties as assigned.
 
LOCATION:  Fleet Maintenance Building, 610 Morse Ave, Schaumburg, IL
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a valid Illinois driver’s license; CDL license is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment. Journeyman level mechanic with prior experience in fleet repair and/or maintenance is required.  NOTE: Applicants must possess requisite physical ability to perform the essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodations.
 
PAY, BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time year-round non-exempt (hourly) position. Work schedule is generally Monday-Friday from 6:45am-3:15pm. Target pay is $28.00-$31.00 per hour depending on qualifications. Our full-time benefits package includes:

ABOUT US: The Glenview Park District is an independent local government agency that provides beautiful parks and outstanding recreational opportunities for the residents of Glenview, IL and beyond. Major facilities include a 170,000 sq. ft. community center, three aquatic centers, an 18-hole golf course with clubhouse and restaurant, a 9-hole golf course with platform tennis, a tennis club, an ice center, a 1920s dairy farm, an 1850s nature/history center, and newly renovated administrative offices. The District has over 100 full time employees, 300 year-around part time employees and another 500 summer / temporary employees. 
 
JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Finance Director reports to the Finance Director and assists with the overall management and operations of the Finance Department.  Acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the Finance Director.  Serves as backup for the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable positions. Conducts internal audits of financial activity and practices.  Assists in the development, analysis and monitoring of the budget. Assists with the coordination and data collections for the annual audit. Performs financial analysis and prepares ad-hoc reports.  Assists in developing financial strategies to meet the goals of the District.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required. CPA highly desired. Will consider significant and material experience in lieu of formal education. At least 5 years relevant experience required, prior experience in managerial or governmental accounting strongly preferred. The best candidates will have significant knowledge of accounting practices, financial systems, internal controls and auditing, standard business practices, advanced skills in Excel and report writing, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information to a general audience.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a full-time, salaried position. Hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5pm, plus additional evening and weekend work as required. Target hiring range is $90,000 to $105,000 depending on qualifications. Some flexibility with remote work/hybrid (up to two days) and work hours.

Responsible for skilled and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance of  playgrounds, facilities, and other District areas.  May act as a crew leader of general park maintenance crews or as a leader in trades related projects.  The employee is under the direct supervision of  the Operations supervisor, and may be directed in daily tasks by higher staff.  The Park Specialist II - Operations, is granted authority for independent action and exercises supervision over assigned full-time and seasonal maintenance personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1.  Performs a variety of manual skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks including operation of small to heavy equipment, tractors and trucks.
  2. May act as a crew leader for all maintenance repair activities and projects at assigned parks and facilities and during special events. 
  3. Works closely with internal customers to ensure all work requests are done correctly and in a timely manner.
  4. Responsible for following appropriate safety guidelines and utilizes standards of performance set forth in the Park Operations Manual for all work. 
  5. Under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, trains, supervises, and monitors work of assigned staff.
  6. Inspects assigned parks and reports daily on all work completed. Maintains accurate maintenance records and written work records.
  7. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  8. Performs rough finished carpentry, painting, locksmith duties, plumbing, electrical and mechanical maintenance work on buildings and facilities.
  9. Paints buildings and park facilities and performs cement and masonry work.
  10. Installs electrical fixtures such as switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and fuse boxes.
  11. As assigned, checks and maintains HVAC equipment including heating plants and boilers.
  12. Works on a rotational snow removal crew. Duties include plowing, snow blowing, shoveling and salting walkways and parking lots.
  13. Maintains inventory and has custody of tools, equipment and supplies.
  14. Contacts vendors to obtain quotes and orders parts/supplies.
  15. Required to use high lift truck for various maintenance tasks.
  16. Must have knowledge on the use of underground line locators.
  17. May be assigned to perform playground inspections. Keeps current on all new ASTM Standards for public use playground equipment, keeps playgrounds safe and makes playground equipment repairs to maintain compliance with vendor warranties.
  18. Performs playground surface maintenance including placement of wood chips and sand, filling holes, shoveling and raking.
  19. Set-up and take-down show mobile and sound system for special events.
  20. Construct and install park signage.
  21. May be called on to report to work on an on-call basis for emergencies or as needed.
  22. Performs other tasks as assigned. 
 This position must be available for snow emergencies when necessary, which could require working as early as 3am.

 
OTHER DUTIES

Requires some knowledge of park grounds and facilities maintenance practices; working knowledge of pertinent safety precautions; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate light maintenance equipment; ability to make simple adjustments to equipment; ability to perform basic maintenance of equipment; and must adhere to preventive vehicle/equipment maintenance and cleaning programs. Incorporates the District's core values of commitment, service, integrity, openness, inclusiveness, innovation and environmental stewardship in all work performed. Adheres to and actively enforces the safety responsibilities and safety procedures as outlined in the District's Safety Manual and overall risk management program.

Education:                    High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and additional certification or training in trades.  

Experience:                  Three years parks, facility, or maintenance experience.

Certifications:              Must possess a valid Illinois Drivers' License and be able to obtain a Class "B" CDL License within six (6) months of employment.  May be required to obtain a C.P.S.I. (Certified Playground Safety Inspector) Certification within twelve (12) months of employment. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate preferred.  Must be able to obtain and keep current CPR and AED certifications.

This position is responsible for all administrative services for the Division Directors and staff of Special Revenue Facilities and Recreation and Museum Services. The Administrative Assistant provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers via in person, phone and email. This position communicates effectively and takes an active role in supporting and responding to in-person community inquiries and administrative building visitors. This position plays a key role in preparation of Board Committee meetings including agendas, packets, postings, room set-up and minutes. The Administrative Assistant provides support for special projects, initiatives, and select special events within each division and participates in district-wide initiatives such as agency accreditation and strategic initiatives. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a High School Diploma and some college is highly desirable. At least 3 years of relevant work experience and prior experience supporting senior management desired. Excellent communication & organizational skills and strong technical ability (MS Outlook and MS Office) are required. Advanced knowledge and skills with computers and software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is a must. Ability to accurately type along with ability to transcribe recorded dictation preferred.  
 
SCHEDULING & PAY 
This is a full time, year-round position. Typical position hours are Monday through Friday are 8:30am to 5:00pm and may include occasional nights based on meetings, program and facility needs. Target hiring range is $52,900-$58,000 DOQ (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
