Arlington Heights is well-known for its vibrant swimming community, with five outdoor pools and one indoor aquatic center. For our residents, swimming is a lifelong passion. The Aquatic Supervisor of Competitive Swim position involves overseeing a year-round travel swim team, a novice-level swim team during the school year, and the Interpark Swim Team program in the summer, which includes six teams and over 500 swimmers. This position will need to be able to work evenings and weekend shifts as the schedule varies throughout the year.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Develops, organizes, monitors, and schedules all aspects of competitive swimming and water polo programs
  • Manages all aspects of winter and summer swim teams
  • Acts as the head Muskies Swim Team Coach during the winter season.  During the summer season manages the administrative duties of the Head Muskie Swim Team Coach
  • Coordinates the hiring of swim team coaches
  • Assists the Aquatic Manager with the daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of ARC and outdoor pools
  • Prepares annual budget projections and monitors revenue and expenses for applicable program areas
  • Prepares bi-weekly payroll and submits it to the Finance Department on a timely basis
  • Provides seasonal program guide information and publicity materials for program and events
  • Works closely and collaboratively as a team with the Aquatic Manager and (Swim Lesson) Aquatic Supervisor
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the department’s Comprehensive Plan
  • Assists the HR and Safety Supervisor with District-wide safety training such as CPR and First Aid
 
This position will need to have a strong knowledge of:
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of competitive swimming, water polo, lifeguarding, CPR and first aid
  • Good knowledge of program development
  • Good knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of park and recreation administration
  • Good knowledge of the principles of financial management
