Maintenance Worker I - Park Center

JOB SUMMARY
- Maintenance I is responsible for performing a wide variety of general labor tasks, including cleaning, maintenance, repairs, painting, construction, landscaping, aquatic systems, and seasonal duties. The Maintenance I is responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:
- Cleans the interiors of buildings thoroughly (washing & waxing floors, windows, wiping walls, cleaning bathrooms & kitchen areas, etc.)
- Performs set-up and tear-down for programs and special events
- Removes garbage and disposes of properly (dump or incinerator)
- Performs all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, ice rink maintenance, etc.)
- Performs general building maintenance and repair (including roofs, doors, windows, and minor maintenance/repair of electrical, plumbing, aquatic systems, and heating systems)
- Completes landscaping activities (urban forestry, planting, mowing, raking, chipping, etc.)
- Maintains all tools, equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems as necessary
- Routinely inspects park furnishings and landscaping (walkways, parking lots, picnic tables, bleachers, grills, benches, backstops, etc.)
- Identifies and repairs or reports any failures or hazards
- Secures each location before leaving site, checking security light timing boxes, light fixtures, fire extinguishers, thermostats, locks, and related items
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License required and must be at least 18 years of age.
- May be required to obtain CPO Certified Pool Operator license, depending on specific position.
SCHEDULING & PAY
- This is a full time, year round, hourly (non-exempt) position working Saturday and Sunday from 12:00pm to 8:30pm and Monday through Wednesday from 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
- Potential for schedule change with seasonal needs. Must be available for required overtime, special events and weather related duties.
- Target compensation is $25.64/hr. depending on qualifications and experience. Full pay range is $25.64-$34.61/hr.
